'Squid Game' Season 2 is currently in production for release next year.
Netflix released some sets of Season 2 of 'Squid Game' to local and international reporters at a location in Chungcheong Province, Korea, on July 7. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, First Man Studio CEO Kim Ji-yeon, and art director Chae Kyung-sun attended the event.
Reporters were given a tour of the two main set locations that symbolize 'Squid Game'. They also got a glimpse of the storyline of Season 2.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk said, "We've been working hard on Season 2 since last July, amidst the interest and support of many people. We have a heavy responsibility, but we will repay your expectations with good work. In Season 2, you can expect a deeper story and message with new games and new characters."
CEO Kim Ji-yeon added, "To meet the global interest and expectations for Season 2, the entire cast and crew are working hard to deliver good work. We look forward to your continued support."
"We feel a great sense of responsibility for the love we received for Season 1 and the high expectations for Season 2, and our art team is working hard to effectively realize the creative vision and thematic awareness of Director Hwang Dong-hyuk," said Art Director Chae Kyung-sun, who won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Production Design for 'Squid Game'.
Filming for 'Squid Game' started in July and is planned to continue until 2024. New cast members joining familiar faces from Season 1, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo, include Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, and Jo Yoo-ri.
